Silver Nights, Golden Dreams Official Video

On the 28th of October, Everfrost released their first ever official video being ‘Silver Nights, Golden Dreams’ from debut album Blue Eyed Emotion.

The video was shot in two parts, earlier in the year and then during fall. The editing was completed by Snowkinder after the band’s rehearsal sessions in early October and then released through Unknown Power Metal YT¬†metal Youtube channel.

Drummer Joonas Vainio appeared in the video as a guest as the video was shot before permanent drummer Joonas Salminen had joined the band.

An official lyric video for ‘Clockwork Wilderness’ is currently being edited and will be posted before the entire album becomes available free to listen on Youtube.

Joonas Salminen Joins Everfrost

Today we are excited to welcome Joonas ‘James’ Salminen to Everfrost as our new drummer! You will get to see his powerful drumming with us at shows later in the year.

joonas-2

Joonas is most known for being the drummer of Winterthroned and the current drummer of Korso-based alternative metal band, GIRA.

He introduced himself with a cheerful message on the band Facebook page this week! “Greetings,
As you may have noticed Im the new maestro for drums, percussions and all shorts of pots and kettles for the band. Thanks for the warm welcome! ūüôā
Been practicing alot to get the best kind of feel to the songs. The songs are coming along nicely btw (Three Tier Terror is my personal favorite). Cant wait to play for you guys! My fellow band mates said that I have free hands on the drums so they might be little bit different live than in the album ūüėČGonna shoot a Drum cover of some of them in the future so just you wait. I guess thats all. See you out there!
Cheers

– Joonas “James” Salminen”

To clarify, even though the drums early in the band and on Blue Eyed Emotion were performed by Benjamin, the decision to welcome a new drummer to the band was made as he had decided to be the band’s keyboardist during the making of the album. The decision came from feeling more in touch and passionate with the songs as the keyboardist and that the role of the drummer therefore belonged to someone who felt the full passion toward the music in that area.

Mikael Salo Joins Everfrost

Here is a special update about the band we can now share with you all. We welcome Mikael Salo to Everfrost as our second lead vocalist! Together, Hew and Mikael will expand our vocal capability even more for a bigger sound with further diversity. You can also expect some metal opera coming your way on the next album!

We had an Everfrost meet up in Helsinki during July with Markus and Mikael to talk about more exciting plans this winter.

Everfrost Album Artwork Revealed, Updates, Release Info and More

The last two months have been very busy for the band and everyone involved in the new Everfrost album, Blue Eyed Emotion! First of all the cover artwork for the album created by mangaka, Michiru Bokido was revealed.

In mid November Benjamin had a table at Kitacon in Kemi, Finland to promote the album. We were selling the poster and our older music as well as other fan products and merch for the band and album. We nearly ran out of flyers and it was awesome watching people getting their hands on the music and curious about our collaboration with Michiru! We had a great time and the whole con was a fun experience, seeing other artists and products, cosplays and events, plus it was really nice to see so many friends there.

It was also time to make a new album update video so here is Benjamin being awkward in front of the camera talking about¬†Blue Eyed Emotion¬†and Michiru’s new manganoke,¬†Knight of Fae¬†coming next year. There is also a teaser clip of our new song¬†‘The Glades and the Cradle’¬†which we wrote for the¬†Knight of Fae¬†anime trailer, let us know what you think!

This month the album release information was revealed including the tracklist, release date, distributors and more. The full post is available HERE or click the poster below!

Blue Eyed Emotion by EVERFROST will be available December 19

Everfrost and Michiru Bokido Interview and Article

Everfrost Michiru Bokido Interview add

Home‚Üí

Check out our interview with Japanese manga artist, Michiru Bokido about our upcoming album and collaboration on his upcoming manganoke, Knight of Fae! We appeared in an article as Everfrost with Michiru and were interviewed by Mitch Campbell. Check it out below or here!

Everfrost

The Blue Eyed Emotion album visually will combine anime/manga with our music to tell a story. It’s not by definition a concept album but it is heavily story-based with characters who exist in the music and album visuals. We hadn’t really seen this kind of thing done with anime and manga before outside of Japan so we weren’t sure how it was going to turn out. But then we were lucky enough to get a chance to work with professional Japanese mangaka, Michiru Bokido!

It turned out that he was beginning work on a brand new manga of his own called ‘Knight of Fae’ and throughout this process invented a new form of manga he dubbed, ‘manganoke’. The manganoke concept is to present a coloured manga comic and make the reader feel as if they are reading an anime. This will lead to a fully animated anime trailer for the book which we were asked to compose a song for!

More about the song will come later but it will be out soon with the trailer release. The song will also appear on our upcoming album so the trailer release will be like the first official single for the album. This has brought Michiru very close to the band and our music and we’re ready to announce that he will illustrate the story and album visuals of ‘Blue Eyed Emotion’!

Four Covers from Everfrost

Home‚Üí

The three of us have been working hard on the upcoming Everfrost album and we have some big updates coming. But first here are three covers from each of us that we have been sharing around.

First one is ‘This Not Over Yet’ by our vocalist, Hew!

More of his unique and dramatic vocal style to come on Blue Eyed Emotion.

¬†Next is ‘Hallelujah’ by our lead guitarist, Markus!

¬†You’ll get to hear his awesome lead playing soon with the album release.
¬†And here is two from Benjamin,¬†guitar cover of ‘Ett Folk F√∂rbannat’ by Finntroll and drum cover of Sonata Arctica’s ‘Kingdom for a Heart’.

Hope you enjoy these and we have been working on some more covers as a band to release before the album is ready!

To give you an idea on the album process, as of last week Benjamin finished tracking his guitar parts, Markus also has one solo to do and then all of the guitars for the whole thing are ready. Things are really starting to take shape!

Convention Appearance

HOME‚Üí

In February 2015 Benjamin had a showcase at Mangapäivä in Kemi.

The whole convention was a great success and it was awesome to meet some new people and hangout with friends while promoting the music and selling other products. Perhoslapsi did a great job of organising the event and making something usually small extra special this year!

Of course the first demo album and the early single release were on sale but he was also selling pins, phone charms and bookmarks.

These bookmarks are exclusive merch for the upcoming album, Blue Eyed Emotion.

Here are some more photos from the event, lots of great cosplays and cool stuff for sale!

Drum Studio Session

HOME‚Üí

Back in November 2014 Benjamin recorded drums for the upcoming Everfrost album.

IMG_1270

Due to limited funds and time we could only get one night in the studio for drums and thankfully he managed to drum the whole album in time.It was only engineer,¬†Harry and him in the studio with no one else. Luckily no problems occurred¬†and that studio was a dream to use. Unlike certain others…

At SAE institute they got to use the new Avid setup which was really innovative and quite efficient once they figured out how to use the Xmon interface. Good selection of outboard gear and pre-amps too.

Benjamin used a combination of gear from his own kit and fellow drummer, Lloyd. Namely his Pearl Reference snare, K Hybrid cymbals and Pearl Masterworks floor tom. This was added to Benjamin’s¬†6 piece Pearl Vision series kit with a variety of trash for cymbals. Most of it is pretty average but sounds decent with good tuning and heads. “The best gear I own is the shell pack and my Axis longboards, I guess.”

¬†The micing configuration was pretty standard. AKG D112 on the kick drum, SM57s on the snare and rack toms, Sennheiser 421 on the 14″ floor tom, Shure Beta 52 on the 16″ floor tom and the overheads were some AKG pencil condenser pair.. We couldn’t even tell because there was so much tape and shit on them. All mics sent to the Avid pre-amps apart from the overheads which we used the Focusrite pre’s on. And the right overhead is drooping in the photo, we did correct it before recording! xD
Overall the session went really well, most songs were done in one take and we actually finished early for the first time ever! The only struggle was hauling the drums and hardware up the stairs and cramming it in the elevator.
